His work also covers the design of moving bridges, nuclear lifting equipment and access gantries.

Anton van der Zalm is Vice President of Corporate Research & Development for Van Beest and a Bachelor of Applied Science. After being employed at several industrial companies, he started working at Van Beest in 2003 and has held several positions in the company, always in the field of Product Management / Engineering / Training. This is Anton’s second time speaking at a LiftEx event. In 2013 he presented Green Pin ROV shackles, this resulted in winning the 'Most Innovative Product Award 2013'.

Alvin Abraham started his career in the aviation industry, in various technical and management roles, before switching industries to join Samson, the Strongest Name in Rope. Currently an Application Engineer in Ferndale, Washington, USA, Alvin holds dual degrees in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University. His work with Samson has been focused on rope application in the crane and offshore industries. His main interest has always been in educating the public on the benefits of using high-performance rope. He is a member of ASME and has recently been invited to serve on the B30.9 standards committee.

He is passionate about motorbikes and spends his free time clay pigeon shooting, fishing or tinkering with anything mechanical.
